With nearly two decades of law experience, Yvonne’s practice encompasses both nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions with a particular focus on PERM Labor Certification applications, J-1 Research Scholar programs, and petitions in the Multinational Manager, Outstanding Researcher, and Extraordinary Ability categories. Yvonne also advises corporate clients on best practices and I-9 compliance. Widely regarded as an expert in the field, Yvonne is frequently invited to present as a faculty speaker at American Immigration Lawyers Association conferences.
In addition to over fifteen years of immigration experience, including more than eight years with one of the largest immigration law firms, Yvonne was an immigration attorney at an internationally renowned space research facility in Southern California where she developed and managed an in-house immigration program and served as the Responsible Officer for its J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.
Before law school, Yvonne worked in Taiwan as speech consultant for the Ministry of Economic Affairs on international trade issues and an English teacher.
Connection to Immigration
My great-grandfather came from China to work on the US railroad, and my family has a long history of immigration. So, I have a natural compassion for immigrants.

What is a fun fact about you?
I’m a native San Franciscan, and my family came through Angel Island. The immigration officer heard our last name of “Choi” and made it “Toy” instead!
